Calligraphy Workshops FAQs & Terms

Please arrive around 10 minutes before as the workshop will start promptly at the stated start time.

All your tools will be supplied. I suggest not wearing any precious items of clothing as you may get ink on them. Bring your glasses with you if you use them.

The pace of the workshop is easy-going. I will be there to keep everyone on track but I also encourage everyone to go at their own pace, particularly towards the end as I start to see each attendee developing their own style.

The workshop I want to attend is sold out. Is there a waiting list?
Please drop me an email and I will add you to the waiting list.

I'm left-handed, can I attend one of your workshops? Yes, you can - I have successfully taught many 'lefties'. The pen holder we use is ambidextrous so it's not a problem, however if you are an over-writer, you may have some difficulties. Please contact me prior to the workshop for more info.

Will I receive enough one-to-one attention during the workshop? Absolutely! I make sure to spend equal time with each attendee.

After attending a workshop, how long until I am good at calligraphy? Like with anything, practice makes perfect! I suggest attending an improvers workshop and practising for at least 2 hours a week after the beginners workshop to keep up the skills you would have learned. Calligraphy is a skill that takes time but it is equally important to spend time to develop your own style too!

Will there be refreshments available at the workshop? Depends on the venue. Please see workshop listing for more info.

Can children attend the workshop? Yes, secondary aged children with a keen interest to learn calligraphy are welcome to attend with a paying adult.

I'm unable to attend the workshop I have booked onto. Can I transfer my space to my friend? Yes, you can transfer your space to a friend but please let me know prior to the workshop.

I'm unable to attend the workshop I have booked onto. Can I transfer my space to another date? If there is a waiting list, it shouldn't be an issue, but each venue has their own terms. Please check on their website upon booking or call the specific venue for more info. With enough notice, it's usually not an issue. At short notice, I can't guarantee it will be possible.

I'm unable to attend the workshop I have booked onto. Can I get a refund? Each venue is different. Please check on the specific listing or email me for clarification.

Do I need experience? My beginners workshops are for absolute beginners or those with very little experience. My improvers workshops are suitable for those that have attended a beginners workshop with me in the past.

What happens if you cancel the workshop? In the rare event that I have to cancel a workshop, I will let you know you as soon as possible. You will receive a full refund or the option to re-book onto another date.
